Madeleine Fenwick is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work encompasses a wide range of media. Primarily trained in the traditional arts of painting, drawing, and printmaking, her recent projects have evolved to incorporate sculptural and digital installations. Since March 2022, Madeleine has embarked on an expansive journey to investigate and develop her sculptural techniques while staying in Mexico City, where she recently showcased her largest installation to date at Salon Acme Edition 12 in February 2025. After completing her studies at the City & Guilds School in Kennington in 2012, she dedicated the following two years to organizing art exhibitions and collaborative events with a collective of emerging artists based in London. Originally from Britain, she made the significant decision to relocate to Malta in 2014, where she established her studio in the vibrant city of Valletta. This unique environment greatly influenced her artistic practice, allowing her work to develop significantly. Drawing inspiration from local and traditional methods, she engaged in collaborative projects and experimented with various natural materials across a multitude of disciplines, including painting, drawing, video, performance, sculpture, and mixed media installation. Driven by a deep fascination with the endless state of flux inhabited and co-created by both living and non-living beings and materials, she explores the complex interactions embedded within the dimensions of time and space. Additionally, her work delves into themes of belief and symbolism, intertwined with the universal narratives of our shared history, placing a particular emphasis on the abstract and the transient elements inherent in human experience. She seeks to illuminate the stories of our past, contributing to the collective tapestry of human craftsmanship that is embedded in shared rituals. Through her creative process, she approaches object-making as a form of alchemy, transforming materials and the sensations of lived experiences into artworks that resonate with the essence of their gesture and energy. These creations contain a powerful call to action, reflecting the intrinsic creative drive that exists within the realm of myth-making.
